Winners of d3 Natural Systems Competition 2009 Announced

<div><p><a class="floatbox" href="http://www.bustler.net/images/uploads/d3_natural_systems_09_03x.jpg" rev="group:myGallery caption:`2nd Place, Sustainable Worldwide Category: Urban Aeration by konyk architcture pc (USA)`"><img alt="image" src="http://www.bustler.net/images/uploads/d3_natural_systems_09_03.jpg" style="border: 0pt none ; width: 500px; height: 419px;" /></a></p><p>New York-based <b><a href="http://www.d3space.org/competitions" title="d3">d3</a></b> just announced the winners of the <b>Natural Systems competition for 2009</b>. The program, developed by co-directors <b>Gregory Marinic</b> and <b>Mary-Jo Schlachter</b>,<br /><br /><span class="fullpost"><br /><br /><p>promotes investigation of natural systems from microscopic to universal<br />toward determining new architectonic strategies. The competition<br />invited architects, designers, engineers, and students to collectively<br />explore the potential for analyzing, documenting, and deploying<br />nature-based, sustainable influences in urbanism, architecture,<br />interiors, and designed objects. </p><br /><p>The jury, a panel of New York-based architects and designers engaged<br />in sustainable practices and computational explorations included <b>Gil Akos</b> of Mode, <b>Colin Cathcart</b> of Kiss+Cathcart Architects, <b>Chris Lasch</b> of Aranda/Lasch Architects, <b>Ronnie Parsons</b> of Mode, and <b>Roland Snooks</b>of Kokkugia. d3 advisory board members Sandra McKee and Hiroki<br />Yoshihara of the international design firm Yoshihara McKee Architects<br />hosted the event in their New York studio.</p><br /><p>The competition awarded seven prizes, with first place captured by<br />London-based Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui and Lorene Faure for their project:<br />“Urban Agriculture: Hybridized Farm Bridge as City Garden”.
